Nine students received scholarships Saturday  during Salvation Station Empowerment’s second annual Juneteenth Celebration Scholarship Award Ceremony held inside the Paul R. Brown Multipurpose Room in Elizabethtown.

Scholarships awarded were as follows:

Fo2W MC Corbett Scholarship: Cassie Humphrey (presented by Mary Corbett)

Wendell & Gwendolyn Johnson/Cape Fear Lodge 300 Scholarship: Ahonesty Blake and Taran McNeil (presented by Wendell & Gwendolyn Johnson with special thank you to Freddie & Ilka McElveen for their generous donation)

Salvation Station Empowerment/Smithfield Food of Tar Heel Scholarship: Makayla Dixon, Chloe Hines, Kaleigh Gaskins, Jordan Mathis (presented by Rev. Barbara & G. Michael Cogdell)

Fish Out of Water Staff: Trunk Recipients – Ahonesty Blake, MaKayla Dixon, Kaleigh Gaskins, Chloe Hines, Cassie Humphrey, Mikala Leach, Deryah Lewis, Jordan Mathis, Taran McNeil (presented by Nancy Blue). Funding for the college trunks provided by the Junior League of Fayetteville.

The guest speaker was Rev. Corey Lyons of First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.
