NC DOTRobeson County Vision Zero Taskforce will hold a meeting on Thursday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at the Robeson County Emergency Operations Center, located at 38 Legend Drive, Lumberton, NC.

The featured speaker will be Transportation Secretary James Trogdonwho has made highway safety a top priority, will speak to the task force’s executive committee and its guests, which include area firefighters, police officers, and other agencies that response to vehicle crashes. The committee also will review 2017 crash figures and discuss campaign materials that seek to change driver behavior and eliminate highway deaths. The meeting is open to the media. Robeson County Vision Zero is the state’s first countywide effort, with participation from NCDOT, the N.C. Governor’s Highway Safety Program and the State Highway Patrol. Many of the county’s 43 roadway deaths in the average year are the result of speeding, drinking, distracted driving and not wearing seat belts. The meeting is open to the media.
