winnersThe 88 golfers who played in Southeastern Health Foundation’s annual golf tournament will make it possible for local students to train for careers in health care.  Twenty-two teams competed in the 26th annual Swing for Good Health golf tournament held May 5 at Pinecrest Country Club.  The tournament was chaired by Ron Roach.

The event raised over $16,000 for the SeHealth Foundation, according to Foundation Executive Director Sissy Grantham.  Proceeds from the tournament will help fund academic scholarships for students who have chosen to study medicine, nursing or allied health and who plan to return to this community to practice.

The tournament resulted in a three-way tie score of 59, therefore a scorecard playoff was held for hole #18 which resulted in first place winners Greg Bryant, Chris Locklear, Josh Locklear and O’Ryan Lowry.  They each received a $150 cash prize.

Second place winners were Donnie Beck, Justin Branch, Carlton Dial and Larry McNeill.  They each received $100.

Andy Andrews, Dr. Tom Fisher, Aaron Maynor and Dr. Andy Simays won third place. Each team member received a $50 cash prize.

Buddy McLean claimed the prize for closest to the pin on hole #2, and on #12 Jay Humphrey.  Joe Parslow took honors for the most accurate drive on hole #8 and Andy Andrews took the honors on hole #17; The awards for the longest drive on hole #3 went to Mike Chuchacz and hole #18 to Noelle Fields.

The tournament provided players with one opportunity at a hole-in-one prize on hole #10 sponsored by Lumberton Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC although it was not claimed.
