Sheila Nance has been named Bladen County Library Director. She will begin her new duties on August 9, 2021, and will be responsible for overseeing the libraries in Elizabethtown, Clarkton, and Bladenboro.

Sheila is a lifelong resident of Bladen County and a graduate of Bladenboro High School. She obtained her Master of Library Science degree from East Carolina University and has worked with the Bladen County School system for 23 years. Most recently, she served as the Librarian/Media Specialist at the Clarkton School of Discovery.

Sheila said, “I am very excited about my new role with Bladen County as the Library Director. I have heard wonderful things about the staff, and I have personally loved visiting the library over the years with my children. I think Bladen County Library, including its branches in Clarkton and Bladenboro, has limitless potential in the services it provides to residents. I look forward to sparking a love of reading with the youngest of our patrons and encouraging that continued love of reading with adults as well.”

We’re very pleased to have Sheila join the Bladen County team,” said County Manager Greg Martin. “She brings knowledge and enthusiasm, as well as professionalism and a commitment to customer service – qualities that are important to our organization. Library patrons and the citizens of Bladen County will be well served by Sheila’s leadership in this important role.”

Nance and her husband Terry have three children and reside in Bladenboro. They are active members of New Light Church and of the civic organization, Boost the ‘Boro.
