Spread the love

By Cara Beth Smith

A boutique in Elizabethtown offers a new genre of trendy, fashionable clothing and accessories. Owned and operated by Kelly Barefoot with the help of her team members and husband, “Bo” Barefoot, Barefoot Boujee Boutique hopes to engage the community and become one of the “regular spots” to visit when in Elizabethtown.

Kelly Barefoot also owns and operates Barefoot Brew Coffee Shop and Barefoot’s Sandwich Shop in Elizabethtown, while providing a satellite coffee location for public use at Bladen Community College. Since moving to Bladen County from Raleigh in 2017, the Barefoots have become assets to the area by opening up four business locations while supporting the surrounding small businesses and community endeavors.

Barefoot Boujee Boutique was started due to Kelly’s past work in the horse/equestrian industry, which inspires many of the items they offer. “It is a love of fashion coupled with the input of many of her female team members who love the younger and trendier looks of stylish western/boho fashion,” owners shared. Kelly’s team has a great deal of input in regards to the clothing offered at the local boutique.

When asked about goals, the owners shared, “Our initial goal was to get all the logistics associated with a business such as a website, online ordering, POS system, and social media sights up and running. We now hope to create a fun and engaging platform with our live fashion shows, TikToks, Instagram, and Facebook that keeps our followers updated on classy and trendy offerings that makes the end user feel great about themselves.”

Making customers feel great about themselves is important to the owners and team at Barefoot Boujee Boutique. Kelly shared, “We carry varying lines of jeans, tops, shackets, and jackets that tend to be very flattering, regardless of one’s shape or size. I am a bigger gal myself, so I know how good it makes you feel when you know an item looks great on you.”

The Barefoots contribute to the community in many ways through their various small businesses. They shared, “We are beyond blessed to be able to offer varying schedules to over 60 of our local young adults from ages 14-22, that allows them to work at least part-time during school and sports activities. These associates get the opportunity to engage the public while providing great service. We are quite often their first job, and hopefully a positive experience that will manifest itself into creating a great work force for the future. We operate as a team, and we even have a few of our young ladies that work at all our businesses. This adaptability is impressive in a young adult, and we know it will create value for their future employers.”

Barefoot Boujee Boutique is located at 109 N. Poplar Street, Elizabethtown, NC.

“We hope that by offering another genre of fashion to Bladen county that we may continue to provide a shopping experience that enables our local spending to remain in this region, while also attracting shoppers from other areas.” – Kelly and Bo Barefoot
