A huge crowd beat the heat by dancing to the music provided by the “Band of Oz”, at the first 2015 Summer Concert at the Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown. The folks not dancing at the event enjoyed cold refreshments, food from Cape Fear BBQ, and a relaxing time with friends and family.

The concerts have been organized by the Elizabethtown – White Lake Chamber of Commerce and Cape Fear Valley Hospital with many sponsors making the events possible. Dawn Maynard, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce was all smiles when we asked her how she felt about the attendance. She said, “This is a great turn out. I’m very pleased.”

The concert was the first in a four course line up. There will be three more concerts in the 2015 Sounds of Summer Concert Series. All the events will be on Thursdays this summer.  The next concert will be July 23rd featuring North Tower. August 13th will bring The Fantastic Shakers to Elizabethtown. Then on August 27th the series will end with a bang featuring the Blackwater Rhythm & Blues band.

Concert t-shirts are available for sale for $12 at the Camp Clearwater office, Cape Fear Valley, and the Chamber office. If you would like to purchase a shirt, please contact Dawn Maynard at 874-0285.

If you didn’t make the first concert, put the other three on your calendar and plan to attend. Every concert will be from 6 pm until 9 pm at the Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown.

There are food and drinks available for purchase at the concerts; therefore, no outside food, and no coolers are allowed. There will be ID check points set up as well, so don’t forget your ID. We hope to see you at the next concert. Check out the sponsors list to thank them for helping provide the free concert series.
