ST PAULS– St. Pauls’ boys and Clinton’s girls claimed titles in the Southeastern Athletic Conference’s track & field championship meet Thursday. The St. Pauls’ boys racked up 139 points to defeat Clinton (82), Fairmont (81) and West Bladen (73).
The Clinton girls piled up 176 points to finish ahead of St. Pauls’ (116) and West Bladen (100).
West Bladen junior Demon’tre Love won the 1600 meter race and placed 3rd in the 800 meters. Knight senior Malijah McKoy finished 2nd in both the 100 meter and 200 meter races. Senior teammate Deyon McDonald won the 110 meter hurdles.
Knight senior Iyan Phillips finished 2nd in the discus, and senior Cornelius Esters placed 3rd in the long jump.
West Bladen senior Trinity VanEyken won both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles in the girls meet. Freshman Janiya McKeithan won the triple jump, and the 4×100 meter relay team also won.
Senior Kiera Lewis posted 2nd place finishes in both the 200 meters and the long jump. West sophomore Tah’lela Bethea recorded a 3rd place finish in the high jump, senior Harmony Jacobs took 3rd place in the shot put, and junior Alina Chavez finished 3rd in the discus.
