NEW BERN – Onslow County pushed across the winning run in the fifth inning to edge Bladen County 8-7 Saturday night in the State-Wide Activities Committee Sectional Softball Tournament.

Time had expired after four innings of play with the teams tied 7-7. Bladen County had scored two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game.

Kallie Bass and Marlene Crabtree scored the Bladen runs that tied the game. Jenna Brice and Gabriella Bray also reached base during the tying rally.

Bray, Natalee Sykes and Brenna Hester scored runs for Bladen County in the second inning. Kali Allen, Mary Frances Sutton and Tatum Allen also reached base for Bladen County in the inning and were left on base.

Crabtree and Brice scored runs for Bladen County in the third inning. Sykes, Hester and Kali Allen also reached base in the inning and were left on base.

In the final inning, Kali Allen, Sutton and Tatum Allen reached base after two were out but were left on base.

Crabtree scored 2 runs, and Bass, Brice, Bray, Sykes and Hester scored one run each. Sutton reached base 3 times in the game.

Tatum Allen, Crabtree, Brice, Bray, Sykes, Hester and Kali Allen reached base twice. Bass and Leea Wilkins reached base once.

The loss eliminated Bladen County from the tournament.
