North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) suspends most construction activity along major highways to keep lanes open for holiday travel.
Most work along interstates, U.S., and key state routes is suspended through the evening of Nov. 27. One notable exception is lane closures that will remain in place on Interstate 40 near the Tennessee state line.

The Governor’s Highway Safety Program is also launching its annual Thanksgiving Click It or Ticket campaign. Law enforcement is stepping up patrols and checkpoints to catch people speeding, driving while impaired, and not wearing their seat belts.
