Spread the love

By Cara Beth Lewis

It all began years ago when two brothers traveled to Texas for a hunt, and decided “We can do this at home!” Ronald and Joe Allen of Bladenboro are the owners of Allen Brothers Outdoors that now offers all that a hunter could need – lodging, a kitchen offering three meals a day during a hunter’s stay (with co-owner Joe Allen as the cook), a skeet range, pistol range, and rifle range, and “The Outdoorsman’s Candy Store” with guns, ammo, and other hunting gear.

Allen Brothers Outdoors draws hunters and outdoorsmen from near and far, according to staff member Dan Allen. He shared with BladenOnline that even some Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts have paid a visit to Allen Brothers Outdoors. Co-owner Ronald Allen shared that several other celebrities have paid a visit, including Donald Trump, Jr.

As the story is told, when the Allen Brothers first began the hunters who visited always asked if ammo or other hunting necessities were available for purchase, so the brothers decided to keep extra ammo stocked in the office to have available. Then, the demand grew, so they opened a store on-site where they sold ammo and eventually guns and more. Then, the demand continued to grow and they outgrew the store, and in March of 2020 the new “candy store” was built, offering more than ever.

The space where the retail store was previously is now used for conferences, meetings, training, hunter safety courses, concealed carry courses, and more.

With beautiful juniper walls, stunning antler chandeliers overhead, wall-mounts from successful hunts, and vintage-style decor, the new “candy store” makes for an enjoyable and interesting shopping experience.

The Outdoorsman’s Candy Store is the perfect place to shop for the outdoorsman in your life. With pistols, rifles, shotguns, ammo, boots and waders, Garmin tracking systems, and more… you are sure to find a great gift. They also offer gift cards, which are a great gift option as well.

The retail store is open from 8 am until 5 pm six days a week – Monday through Saturday.

As far as hunting goes, Allen Brothers offers guided mallard duck hunting, guided quail hunting, and towershoot. Pheasant and dove hunting are also options. To book a hunt, rent a cabin, rent the clubhouse for an event, or with any other questions, contact Ronald Allen at (910)736-5360 or email at rallen6@ec.rr.com.

The Outdoorsman’s Candy Store is located at 200 Allen Brothers Drive in Bladenboro. Visit the website at allenbrothersoutdoors.com.
