Work Zone Safety Awareness Week
It’s National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week.
The campaign is held at the beginning of construction season to encourage safe driving through work zones.
Last week, the National Work Zone Memorial was on display at the Interstate 95 South Welcome Center.
The traveling exhibit is displayed throughout the country and honors the 1,635 fallen individuals killed in roadway work zones.
N.C. Transportation Summit
We’re a month away from the fifth annual N.C. Transportation Summit.
Hosted by NCDOT, in partnership with NC GO! and NC Chamber, the event will bring together top leaders and experts in transportation to network, meet with exhibitors, and learn about the future of transportation.
This year’s event will be held May 21-22, at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
Attendees will witness cutting edge technology and ideas first-hand from the summit’s numerous panels and exhibitor trade show.
To register, visit NCDOT.gov and search “summit.”
NASCAR All-Star Race
Also a month away is the NASCAR All-Star Race in North Wilkesboro.
Last year, thousands flocked to the North Wilkesboro Speedway as NASCAR returned to the historic track for the first time since 1996.
Once again, NCDOT will have travelers covered for the week-long event, culminating in the All-Star Race, May 19.
