Thoughts While Shaving
The Masters Golf Tournament comes to a close today.  It has been an exciting event, so far.
A reminder, the Bladen We Care Golf Tournament is set for Thursday, April 21 at Vineyard Golf at White Lake.  For details, including cost and entry form, call 910-874-4001.  Proceeds benefit Bladen County ‘falling through the cracks’ in our medical care system.
US Census recently released their latest estimates of the population of the US, the states and counties.  Bladen slipped a little since the latest official numbers were released in 2010.  The official number at that time was 35,190.  The latest estimate is 34,318, or a loss of 872.  Columbus County dropped by 1,404 while all other counties around us added a few, Robeson +29, Sampson +293.  The counties along the coast saw considerable growth, +5,394 for Pender and an increase of 15,334 in Brunswick.  The numbers mean a great deal to county and city governments.  Apportionments from the federal and state level are based on the latest estimates.
In 1980, the population of Bladen County was 30,491.
The deadline for filing 2015 taxes is fast approaching.  Procrastinators have three extra days this year.  The deadline has been extended to Monday, April 18.
Hope the current cold ‘snap’ is the last for this spring.  Berry farmers would really appreciate.
Today, we feature the 1977 Bladenboro RA’s Little League baseball team and coaches:
Eddie Toth, Wayne Russ, James Hargrove, Mike West, Boyce White, Joe Baldwin, Glen Walters, Jim Allen, Robin Hester, Danny Brown, Ray Lewis, David Clewis, Janice Hines and Nathan Allen.
If you can’t convince them, confuse them.
