I wonder what birds are doing up so early in the morning, singing, complaining, maybe trying to wake other birds or apologizing for what happened yesterday. They must wonder why humans are up so early, maybe some of the same reasons.
Yesterday was an eventful day, had a tree blown over recently, been working on it for a week or more. Finally cleared the limbs and leaves and was burning them. Tired, hot and aggravated, I tossed the final debris on the fire and knocked my glasses off. Looked in the fire and on the ground, could not see well, stepped back and heard a ‘click’ and realized I stepped on the glasses and broke the frames. Doing well, thank you, adjusting. Isn’t that what life is about, adjustments.
Had a visit yesterday from a fairly large turtle. Unusual, have seen very few in the 50+ years we have lived at our current address. Thought about moving the turtle back to the edge of the woods, but we, my bride of nearly 56 years and I, decided to just watch. Low and behold, the turtle apparently buried eggs under a pear tree in our back yard and ‘scooted’ back to the woods. Spent some time on the computer, learning about turtles and discovered (guess many already knew) that turtles plant eggs in the ground and little turtles are born several weeks later. We are looking forward to additions to our family (turtles) in 6 to 8 weeks. Big turtle did not just plant the eggs, but replaced just about every grain of dirt where it was originally, before departing the scene.
