Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingThis is February 28th, last day of the month.  Filing for the upcoming 2018 elections ends at 12 noon today.

A notable filing for local office yesterday.  Wayne Edge (R) filed for Bladen County Commissioner in District 3.  He is the third candidate from the district, others are incumbent Russell Priest (D) and newcomer William D. Whitley (D).  Edge was defeated two years ago after serving one term as a Democratic member of the board.

Questions related to the upcoming elections should be directed to the Bladen County Board of Elections.  Their office is located at 301 Cypress Street behind the Elizabethtown Post Office or  call 910-862-6951.

March Madness is fast app roaching.  Selection Sunday will take place March 11 for the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball committee.  That’s the day when the committee reveals the 68 teams that will be in the field for the NCAA championship in San Antonio, Texas.

In the meantime, conference tournaments are underway or will be shortly, including the men’s ACC tournament this year being played Tuesday, March 6th, through Saturday, March 10th, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Remember when the ACC tournament consisted of mostly North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and South Carolina teams and usually held in N.C.?  Now the conference has 15 teams from Notre Dame, Syracuse and Boston in the north, south to Miami, Florida.

Ladies ACC tournament is being held in Greensboro beginning today and continuing thru Sunday, March 4th.

Always good to have children return home, kinda unexpected.  Such was the case yesterday, both boys (men), and only granddaughter over the past weekend.  Doesn’t get much better.

The 30 day extended weather forecasts are seldom totally accurate; however, based on current information, March 2018 should be a great month weather wise.  High temps are forecast to range from mid 50s to mid 70s with lows in the mid 30s to mid 40s.  Bet berry growers (blueberry and strawberry) would be happy with that kind of weather.

New BladenOnline magazine is available.  Great job by those involved.
