Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingLike many US citizens, I kinda kept up with activities related to the passing of our former President George H.W. Bush yesterday and enjoyed the action and commentary, despite announcing in yesterday’s ‘Thoughts’ that he would be buried in Texas…..yesterday.

I never met President Bush, but had a sister who served for some time as Librarian at the Executive Office Building during his time as the Commander in Chief.  She was impressed with the President, and really liked Barbara Bush, who would be invited to special occasions at her workplace, even has a nice photo with her, the President and Ms. Bush that she no doubt treasures.

And, I had an occasion to attend a Sunday morning service at the National Cathedral years ago…Not sure how many meeting places in the Cathedral, just remember it was an Episcopal service, my first and I was impressed with the facility and the service.  A dream come true for the son of a sharecropper from Route 2, Bladenboro.

And, if my information is correct, the former President will be laid to rest in his home state of Texas, today.  May he rest in peace.

Back home, the bad news continues related to the November General Election.  Statewide and nationwide, Bladen County is the place where questionable voting activity has caused one potential member of the US House of Representatives to be sidelined ’til there is some resolution to the situation.  Not good.. News representatives from across North Carolina and the US… have been, maybe continue to be ‘camped out’ in Bladen, investigating.  No news from the North Carolina State Board of Elections….yet.

Bladen County Commissioners elected different leaders at their Monday meeting.  Charles Ray Peterson returns as chairman and David Gooden was elected vice-chair.
