Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love
Saw a tobacco field recently….being harvested mostly by equipment….couldn’t help but compare with the same issue in the 50s, 60s and 70s.  Years ago, manual labor, many times sharecroppers and their families in the field, at the barn, working thru the steps prior to delivering to area markets to be sold…How many jobs have been eliminated?  And no one is to blame….Just a sign of the times…Same for other crops…berries, cotton, peanuts, corn and on and on…
I know mamy who were survivors of those times….few were paid, mostly families swapping labor..most just surviving….looking forward to Sunday and a better way to provide…I know….a little old fashion….
Yesterday’s high temp was 84…overnight lows mostly upper 50s & low 60s…Who could complain?….but we do.
Partly sunny, with a high near 82 and windy, gusts as high as 15 mph.  Tonight, mostly cloudy, with lows near 63.
Friday, A chance of showers, mainly after 2 p.m. with a high near 76 and windy, gusts as high as 28 mph…Chance of rain near 40%…
Average high and low temps for our area…September 89 and 71.  October, 75 and 54.  Great time to be outside…maybe a football game…
The auto strike continues…NC Legislature scheduled to vote on budget…minus gambling issue….budget deadline was July 1 and in DC, if one party says wet, the other says dry…Maybe a time for some changes…not likely….so what’s new?  I know, easy for us to complain….
Locally, church reunions and planning for the holidays…Still a few weeks away….Thanksgiving and Christmas…and New Years…
Just  ‘Thoughts’…
“I would tell you my autumn joke but you probably wouldn’t fall for it.”
“My favorite part of fall is walking through a hundred spider webs a day and screaming every single time.”
“If money did grow on trees, autumn would be the best season ever.”
