Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Ever take a few minutes and admire all the shades of green this time of year … I love fall of the year … orange, red, yellow leaves … but, this time of year green is the color, and so many shades of green … Oak, gum, pine, maple, dogwood, sycamore, pecan, and numerous fruit trees … all a different shade of green…

Anyone remember 5th Sunday night singings in Bladen County? They were held at various churches, can’t remember the emcee … Local individuals, family groups, sometimes choirs … I enjoyed them … A few of the host churches … Oak Grove FWB, Zion Hill Baptist, Whites Creek Baptist … and there were others … Time frame, late 40s thru mid to late 50s … Representatives of the churches would volunteer to host….before TV became our entertainment.

Last day of 80 plus degree weather for a while … Sunny today, with a high near 82, windy with gusts in the 20 mph range … a chance of showers tonight, mainly after 7 p.m. Low around 60, windy and 40% chance of rain. A 40% chance of rain Thursday, high temp near 73 … Mostly sunny to mostly cloudy for the next several days with highs in the low to mid 70s. Great spring weather…

Remember when trains traveling in and thru Bladen County provided travel opportunities? I do not remember riding a train, but knew of folks who did from Bladenboro to Lumberton … and beyond … Remember Trailways bus service? Bus stations were located in just about every town, small to large … but no more…

“Not all those who wander are lost.”

“Travel is an investment in yourself.”

“My goal is to die with memories, not dreams.”
