The ‘thud’ you may have heard yesterday was the stock market crashing, could go lower today … for whatever the reason.

Checking in on the progress of MacKenzie Gore, former Whiteville lefty who signed for a ‘pot full’ of money to pitch for the San Diego Padres. He has had a sensational year, only one bad outing. … He is with their AA team in Texas … in one of his most recent games … he pitched 5 innings, allowed no runs, gave up 4 hits and recorded 6 strikeouts. He is considered the Padres #1 prospect, one of several that appear to have a bright future in the big leagues. Gore’s name frequently appears in MLB trade talks, despite claims by the Padres to keep him in their system. Wherever he goes, he has a bright future in the major leagues.

Former East Bladen Eagle Sincere Smith continues his play with the NY Yankees Gulf Coast short-season team. Recent check on the shortstop … .296 batting average, includes a couple of home runs.

Temps back in the 90s for the next few days … plan accordingly.
