Thoughts While ShavingTropical storm Idalia came, caused problems and has or will depart the scene today… She came to Florida as a hurricane and left a mess as far north as Southeastern North Carolina…

At 3:05 AM, EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain have fallen… and flash flooding is ongoing… small creeks, urban areas, highways, streets, and other areas with poor drainage, particularly low-lying areas.

Just be aware of potential issues throughout Bladen and surrounding counties… Before traveling today, best to call ahead, no doubt closures or delays in the opening of offices, businesses, etc… Schools are closed. More info will be available throughout the day…

Weather forecast for Thursday (Today). Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of rain between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 79. Windy, with a north wind of 23 to 28 mph decreasing to 17 to 28 in the afternoon. Wind could gust as high as 40 mph.  The chance of precipitation is 80%.

Thursday night… Clear, with a low around 59… Friday is sunny, with a high near 82. Northeast wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Sunday, Mostly Sunny with a high near 86
Monday (Labor Day) is sunny, with a high near 90.

August 31st… 2023… We were without power for a few hours early today, no doubt there were other locations… Maybe some outages as we begin a new day. No one is better prepared for situations like those in our area than power companies, EMS folks, and law enforcement… Thanks…
