Thoughts While ShavingNorth Carolina residents are taking inventory of damage across the state today … The storm roared across the state late Monday … trees down on roadways, many lost power … as the storm that stretched from west to east and from north and south. Early reports indicate that the damage could have been much worse in our area … but, it’s the early (2 a.m.) info.

Early reports of downed trees were first reported in Piedmont locations of North Carolina and up and down the eastern US…

In North Carolina, some early reports were basically limited to downed trees in the west and moving across the piedmont and into eastern NC … As early as 5 p.m., reports of down trees in Lincoln and Catawba were reported … The damage was as far south as Georgia and the northern parts of the US…

By 6:45 p.m., storm damage was reported as far east as Rockingham and Moore County, N.C. By 7 p.m., over a thousand had lost power in the Laurinburg, NC area.

Around 7:30 p.m., damage was reported near St. Pauls, N.C. … the storm continued on west to east track, up and down the eastern US.

Around 8 p.m., fallen trees and damaged power equipment in Sampson County, NC.

Snapped trees and shingles removed from roof residences along Joe Brown highway in Columbus County. Damage was also reported near Grifton in Lenoir County, NC and near Scotland Neck … Halifax County.

Over 1,000 power outages reported after midnight in New Hanover County, NC.

No doubt, more damage will be reported today … All in all, it could have been worse…

Over 1,000 flights canceled due to the weather in the Eastern US.
