thoughts while shavingGreg Martin, longtime Bladen County Manager, is stepping down, retiring at the end of January, according to numerous reliable sources. He has served about 20 years in that capacity. Actually he began in Bladen in a different capacity, moved to Greene County as their County Manager and, fortunately, he was recruited back to Bladen in early 2000s, if my memory is not playing games…

Can’t think of a better fit anywhere by anyone. A professional in every respect … No idea of his successor … Big, big shoes to fill … We wish him well…

Actually, he kinda followed in his father’s footsteps … James Martin served as county manager in Hoke & Robeson before moving on to Cumberland for many years … now retired and residing with his bride in Robeson County … Father and son, both good, good folks and among the best county managers ever in the state of North Carolina … My personal thoughts…

I had a ringside seat for many years, working as Field Rep for the NC Association of County Commissioners…

Stock market made a lot of folks happy yesterday … Fed met, assured the US economy is on the right track … not perfect, but better … Good news.

Yesterday’s high temp was 59 degrees, should enjoy a couple of more days about the same before the arrival of rain Saturday and Sunday … at least the prospects of rain…

Sunny, today, with a high near 53 and windy … Clear skies tonight, low around 29. Friday, sunny … high near 58 … Friday night, mostly clear skies, low near 32.

All in all … not bad for mid December in Bladen…
