Jail-A-Thon is an effort to raise $s for educational efforts … To support our schools, assist teachers and students in special projects, etc. Chairman of the Board, local attorney, David Wall reported $9,500 was deposited earlier this week … proceeds from the most recent event. A huge success after a 2-year absence due to COVID-19 … Off and running again. Congratulations to all who supported in any way…

Have you heard the Tim Lovelace version of the tune, “Some Assembly Needed”, about opening up a box for Christmas and assembly needed … I remember years ago when our boys were just youngsters … A swing set … Some Assembly Was Needed … Took the whole neighborhood to put it together, sometime after Santa’s visit … My one and last such effort … So funny, NOW.

Most recent version of “Business Magazine” features a powerful interview related to “How Lynn Minges helped get $500 million for the state’s hospital industry after the pandemic.” Minges, a Bladenboro native and graduate of Bladenboro High School, has spent years in the capital city area working on worthy projects. Good reading. The article on page six is under the heading “Power List Interview, Hospital Champ”. She was interviewed by High Point University’s Nido Qubein…

Speaking of volunteers … Check our Bladen County Calendar of Events for the current month … One example is the Pancakes for Santa effort, a Clarkton Lions Club project, Saturday, 7:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Clarkton Entertainment Center. Check the list of December events…

One of the highlights of the year was the fundraiser promoted by Bladen We Care … that supports efforts county-wide … assists individuals and groups … Including nursing scholarships at BCC and UNCP for Bladen area residents … and so much more…

Without volunteers, many rural areas would be in a world of hurt … They are ongoing county-wide … 52 weeks a year … And it takes volunteers to make it happen…

If more folks would volunteer, there would be less to complain about … Just the FACTS…

How is the Christmas shopping effort progressing? We no longer shop … give a few bucks and let others do it…
