Thoughts While ShavingToday is July 1, 2023 … the halfway point of this year … All well with you and yours?

Folks on the move during the weekend and week of the 4th of July … to the lakes, the beach, the mountains, visiting with family & friends … Many in our area … So much to do … Fireworks at White Lake … (Tuesday, dark-thirty) … Pick blueberries at Lu Mil … Golfers having fun at Vineyard Golf, White Lake … Fun in the sun at Jones Lake … and long lines at area food sites at Elizabethtown and White Lake … Bring your patience … or go no place … Enjoy a day off … and for others … just another workday…

Whiteville’s MacKenzie Gore will be pitching at 4:05 p.m. today … His first ever start against the Philadelphia Phillies … He is 4-6 on the year … for the Washington Nationals … His ERA is a respectable 3.89 … Washington’s season record is 33-48, Phillies 43-38…

Hope the first half of 2023 has been good for you and yours … For us old codgers … a fast 6 months…

Someone shared a nice note from the parent of a youngster who recently attended classes at the local airport related to job opportunities in the flying business … We think about pilots, stewardess, etc. … the glamour jobs … but there are so many more and, hopefully, they will be available soon locally … all related to the flying industry … More to come…

Rain is about to cause a burnout at our home … Dang grass and weeds are growing … like weeds … Not interested in mowing weeds every week … but still thankful for the rain and the good looking crops … Lord forgive me for complaining…

Look around … not all are faring as well as they would like … Reach out … and help make their day, week better…

Today’s forecast is mostly sunny, with a high near 93. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight … low near 72 … 20% chance of rain. Sunday, a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms, after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 96 … heat values as high as 107…

Checking long-range … Tuesday, July 4th … Independence Day … A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 96 … Low Tuesday night near 74.

“July is a blind date with summer.” Hal Borland

“Freedom of speech is wonderful … right up there with the freedom not to listen.”

“What do you call a snowman in July? A puddle…”
