Reminder … Sidewalk Sale in Elizabethtown continues thru Saturday, July 6.

Town of White Lake is holding a Community Meeting Tuesday, July 9 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to provide an update on the ‘Lake’ Water Restoration Project. It will be the first of several planned on ‘Understanding White Lake and its Management Challenges.’ All are invited. It will be held in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Local All Star baseball and softball teams continue play. John Clark has it covered on our Sports Page.

Fed officials, supported by local law enforcement, are cooperating on various fronts to get ‘the hoods’ off the streets. Most recent was announced Monday and involved Robeson and Cumberland Counties. Big ‘drug’ bust in past few days headquartered in nearby Garland in Sampson County. Bladen County officials continue to make arrest as well. The more the better.

I realize that I have highlighted the weather on a regular basis over the past few days. Can’t think of a more timely topic. I realize there is nothing we can do about it, but crops are hurting and the crops are farmers livelihood. When one group suffers, we all suffer. Rain is in the forecast, 40% chance on Wednesday, 30% Wednesday night, and a 50% chance on Thursday … and again Saturday afternoon and Sunday, all related to thunderstorms. Kinda hit and miss variety. A good gentle rain over several hours would be ideal.

Bojangles in Elizabethtown is set to open in the next few days, not sure of exact date.
