NY Stock Exchange failed yesterday to break a record set in the late 1800s of consecutive days with increases in the daily Dow average … 14 or so … fell short yesterday (Thursday) … Still been a good run.

Interesting stat, courtesy of the Hester Research team … (ME) … The number of NC based community banks, operating independently, today compared with 2015 … 7 of 25 have closed … Some closures in our area … It makes a difference in towns where banks have closed…

I was surprised at the lack of interest in municipal elections in the area, based on recent info … No opposition in some towns in the county, including Elizabethtown. We grumble and complain, but they must be doing a pretty good job or they would be challenged. Carry on…

High school football practice begins soon, after a few days of conditioning … We enjoy athletics, but often have no idea of all the work by those participating, that is required, prior to the season…

VBS, church camps and more this time of year … and all are important … Some were held earlier…

Traveling on Twisted Hickory Road near Dublin yesterday … some DOT repairs and flag persons on both sides, assisting with traffic … we often complain about public employees … It was hot, the shade where they were working was near zero … but I am thankful … for their efforts … year round … Not perfect, but … I thanked the young man where I was held up briefly…

It reminded me of our early days, when our family worked as share-croppers … years and years ago…

Two siblings celebrating birthdays today … Mom has 3 over 80 years of age and another pushing that number … We are blessed…
