The day was hot and the scoring was hotter at the Vineyard Golf Thundering Herd Thursday tournament.
35 players participated in the 6 p.m. nine-hole event. The winning team with a sizzling nine under par was the team of Mark Mendell, Jason Douglas, Jeff Pope, Dustin Martin and Jordan Jackson.
Taking second place, with seven under par, was Dale Johnson, Jake Suggs, Jim Hancock, Chase Tew and Kendell Smith.
Anyone interested in playing in this weekly event is asked to call the pro shop at 910-247-6132 before 5 p.m. on Thursday. The cost to play is $20.
