Thoughts While ShavingIt’s Sunday … Hope you plan to attend the church of your choice today … All local churches, all denominations, will welcome you .. today.

Powerball results … Best I can determine … No one won the big bucks in the PowerBall drawing last night … Latest drawing was worth $629 million plus … Next drawing is set for Monday, July 10 … tomorrow … less $4. I am a winner … haven’t purchased a ticket in years … broke down … spent $10 bucks … won $4 … Powerball plus one additional number … Guess that makes me a PowerBall winner … but not the PowerBall winner … I plan to tithe on my winnings … to date … 10 percent of $4.

MLB All Star Game is set for Tuesday … in Seattle, Washington … Clarkton native Macon Hammond is set to be a part of the festivities … Macon has been umpiring baseball games for years … currently in 2A minor league … He umpired in the Major League Futures game Saturday and will be involved in the Home Run Derby on Monday … Think Macon and some of his family are in the far west … Congratulations, he has a lot of time (sweat) invested in his profession…

And, while on the topic of sports … Remember William McGirt … a former Fairmont native, played on the high school baseball team … and was a golfer … Played college golf in South Carolina … and won a ‘pile’ of money ($8M to $10M) in the pro ranks before health issued sidelined him … Won the Jack Nicklaus (Ohio event) once … He has attempted several times to return to the sport he obviously loves … He played in the first 2 rounds of the John Deere event earlier this week … Was 3 under and missed the cut by a single stroke…

I cut wet weeds and grass yesterday … tough stuff…

We received a nice shower beginning ’bout 7:30 p.m. yesterday … just short of 2 tenths of an inch at the nearby airport weather station.
