SOUTHPORT – Hadley Dove pitched a no-hitter and Bladen County exploded for 14 runs in the 3rd inning to defeat Richlands 15-0 Saturday morning in the opening round of the North Carolina Dixie Softball State Ponytails Tournament.

Bladen County advances to play South Brunswick Sunday at 10:15 a.m. The Bladen team will play a 2nd game Sunday: at 6:30 if they win or at 4:30 if they lose the morning game.

Dove struck out 7 and walked 3 in her 4 innings in the circle. The game was halted by the mercy rule after 3.5 innings.

Maycee Kinlaw drew a lead-off walk and scored the 1st Bladen run in the 1st inning. After Camryn Wood, Abby Diciccio and Chloe Walters drew walks to start the Bladen 3rd inning, Kinlaw walloped a grand-slam home run.

Dove, Brissa Matheson, Kenley Smeigh Anna Claire Walters and Ryleigh Miller belted consecutive singles. Adyson Carroll walked, and Bristol Allen reached base on an error. Camryn Wood laced a single to left field, Diciccio walked, and Kynzlee Wood cleared the bases with a double to right.

Camryn Wood and Diciccio scored twice in the inning, and Kynzlee Wood, Chloe Walters, Kinlaw, Dove, Matheson, Smeigh, Anna Claire Walters, Miller, Carroll and Allen all scored 1 run each in the inning.

Anna Claire Walters batted 2-for-2 with a run scored for the winners. Kinlaw slugged the grand-slam home run and scored twice. Kynzlee Wood doubled home 3 runs and scored a run. Camryn Wood and Diciccio scored twice, and Dove, Matheson, Smeigh, Carroll, and Chloe Walters added 1 hit each and scored 1 run each. Camryn Wood had a hit, and Allen scored a run.
