Congratulations to our seniors … We wish you the best … Public schools and all the others … How many graduates from Bladen County??? No idea … for many, just another of many milestones…
More changes are coming … think of the youngsters entering the workplace in coming years. Maybe some of those who spent time this past week, learning about careers in the aviation field … and possibly the training in that ‘field’ could be just the beginning … Whatever!!!!, a time to remember, and to celebrate…
Remember the Dolly Parton ‘hit’ “Working 9 to 5” Follow your dreams….
I vaguely remember my graduation, not much celebration … I was back on the job at Hinson’s Super Market in Bladenboro, the next morning … Better than following a mule and a one-horse plow as a Bladen County sharecropper … No regrets, a learning experience at every stop along the way … My momma was proud of me and my siblings, and that mattered … 5 siblings followed … and all graduated from the Bladen County school system … some from institutions of higher learning … All living and 4 of six reside in Bladen, 1 other in a nearby county and one in Virginia…
Remember the fundraiser for one of our own … David Lennon is suffering from medical issues, he suffered a stroke … Friends and family are sponsoring a fundraiser at Open Door Ministries, near the Elizabethtown Airport … Eat and play today, beginning at 5 p.m., proceeds benefit Mr. Lennon…
Washington Nationals vs Atlanta Braves today … game time is 4:10 p.m. MacKenzie Gore is listed as the starting pitcher for the Nationals. Gore, a Whiteville native, has pitched well, his record is 3-4 and his ERA is 3.66.
Tomorrow is CHURCH DAY. Hope you are making plans to attend … Numerous opportunities to worship throughout the county.
Weather forecast for today … short and good … Sunny, with a high near 88. Clear skies tonight, low around 62. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 89 degrees…
“If I were in charge, every weekend would be a long one.”
“I think we should flip it … two day work weeks and a five-day weekend.”
“Unless it’s an emergency, don’t bother me.”
