A reminder to golfers … The Bladen We Care Golfing fundraiser is set for Wednesday at River Landing Golf Course near Wallace … many have been held locally. 200 golfers will tee it up, a very successful event, The Byron Gooden event, named after a local, now deceased, big time supporter. Proceeds are used locally … First of all, for folks in the county who are falling thru the cracks in our health care delivery system … and for others, nursing scholarships at Bladen Community College and UNC-Pembroke … plus numerous others who just need a ‘lift’ … assistance … support … in an effort to return to good health. It is one of Bladen’s most popular, successful events … Been sold out for several weeks … Began in the early 1990s … Hundreds, maybe thousands have benefited from proceeds.
How ’bout this year’s U.S. Open golfing event being played in California … Wyndham Clark and Rickie Fowler are tied at 10 under after 3 rounds. This year’s tournament is being played at the ‘tough’ Los Angeles Country Club. A winner will be determined by the end of the day today.
