Thoughts While ShavingMy grass is growing slowly … my weeds are about to take over … Hope it doesn’t rain before noontime this day … Saturday, June 24th…

There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Patchy fog early, otherwise mostly sunny with a high near 89 … 30% chance of precipitation … Tonight (Sat.), a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68 … Sunday (Church Day), a slight chance (20%) of showers and thunderstorms, after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Same type forecast thru Tuesday night … with high temps near 90 degrees.

Saw an article about BBQ, best in the nation … Surprised so many northern states rated above our area … The Skylight BBQ in Ayden, NC was highlighted in the Tar Heel state … I always heard compliments on southern style BBQ … and I believe … but willing to compare.

I enjoy news from other areas about our part of the world … Ever read Border Belt Independent? It features Scotland, Robeson and Bladen counties … Suggest it … Google it … no charge. One of the latest features is an article on Bladen Community College and another on Bladen County Board of Education…

Scrolling thru the web recently, an article on the cleanest lakes in North Carolina … White Lake was rated #2 behind Lake Auman, located in Seven Lakes, an 800 acre lake, in Moore County if my memory is correct. It features 13 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 100 feet.

White Lake was ranked #2 by the publication. “White Lake has a natural sandy bottom and is slowly fed by artesian springs from deep beneath the earth’s surface.” according to the article…

Others included, #3 was Lake Gaston, followed by Lake James in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains … Google, good reading.

Guess we have all thought about, planned a vacation … saved for … All well, except it rains daily. Bet it’s happened to most. Just deal with it … Don’t give up … There’s always next year.

Bladen County has some great shopping, retail outlets and restaurants … Two locations where it always seems to be very busy on weekends … Food Lion and Melvin’s … Others, no doubt … Good for our economy…

When we think of places to visit and stay a night or two, Bladen County must rank high … White Lake, yes … but other locations as well…

Just sharing “Thoughts”…
