Signs keep popping up in the area, ‘I buy old cars’, another says ‘I buy ugly houses’. Wonder if these folks travel together. Crazy thought, buy old cars to park at ugly houses?
As a senior citizen, kinda be glad when trade wars, tariffs, etc. are all settled. Days like yesterday play havoc with 401Ks, and other such instruments. Anything that reduces the principle on saving accounts is cause for concern and it’s been mostly downhill for the past couple of weeks. Just trying to make it to the finish line with no assistance from any source except the one we have saved for, or earned over the years. Many in the older generation have too much pride to accept freebees, unless it is the last resource available. Stability is always welcomed.
Guess that’s the reason, over the years, many older folks kept their money hid at home, in a sock, or a shoe box, etc. Many did not trust the banks. Missed the highs, but long range planning was more predictable. And, a credit card was unheard of.
Think about mass production of swine, poultry and more in the world we live in today, and thankful for all. So different from the way it was yesteryear when hog-killings were annual neighborhood events for family and friends.

On a sad note, longtime DJ Don Arnsan passed recently. He worked at Elizabethtown radio stations (WBLA & WGQR) years ago, was in the region, mostly in Columbus County for many years as well, playing favorite tunes, spreading joy. He was a great DJ, but an even better human being.
