Greetings on this Sunday, Church Day.
Followed some of the news yesterday related to the devastating storms in areas of Mississippi, and at least one death in Alabama. At least 23 died in Mississippi, no doubt some more in both states. Rescue efforts continue … Others are missing and the fatality count is likely to continue to rise … A couple of the towns hit the hardest were about the same size as towns in our area … Prayers for all…
Today is Sunday, Church Day … Remember those who continue to seek survivors.
I decided to do a little research yesterday about our area … Normal weather for this area, this time of the year … We have an average of about 8 days monthly when we have rainfall. Average humidity for March is 74% … Average high is 67, average low 42 degrees. Our record high for this time of year is 87, and record low is 23, and average maximum wind speed is near 22 mph. Average annual rainfall for our area is 49 inches and average snow for this time of year is about 1 inch.
Annual high for the year is July, around 90 degrees and average low is 33 in January.and February…
March Madness continues. All North Carolina ACC basketball teams departed the scene early.
Former West Bladen football star, most recently Auburn University offensive lineman, Brandon Council participated in NFL Combine last week in Indianapolis … ‘pro day on the Plains’. Council played every position on the offensive line the past season. He reportedly shed a few pounds, down to 301 lbs for the combine. He is just a ‘tad’ over 6-3. His college career was extended due to injuries and switching schools at least a couple of times.

Showers and thunderstorms likely today. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. High near 76, calm wind and an 80% chance of precipitation. More showers, possibly a thunderstorm between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., more showers likely after 4 a.m. Low near 61 and a 60% chance of rain. More of the same type weather Monday, with a high near 80 and 80% chance of rain … and we need it. Planting time is fast approaching and the fields are dry.
