Thoughts While Shaving

Robert Hester, Founder of BladenOnline.comI heard from some local Duke-UNC fans … Apparently some of each traveling together to Krzyzewskiville for Coach K’s final home stand. He will retire at the end of the season. Final score … UNC 94-Duke 81. Duke lead at halftime 41-39.

After being lazy all day long, traveled to Bladenboro for a BBQ fundraiser for a couple of area residents who are experiencing health issues … Went early to avoid the crowd. (I did not avoid the crowd) … A huge, huge turnout, inside and out. Purchased food, saw one of the two recipients of the event … No one does a fundraiser better … and no place I know of supports their own better … Kinda makes one proud to see how they take care of their own. No idea how much was raised … It was successful…

As many know, a job at Hinson’s Super Market in Bladenboro was my first job after a few years helping my family as a sharecropper … I remembered the mid 50s … Famo and Shawnee flour (25 lb bags), a dollar’s worth of neckbones would fill a good size bag, a stand of lard, rice bits, Holsum bread, Chesterfield cigarettes, Prince Albert smoking tobacco … so many memories … and Edsel and Henry J autos…

Kinda get carried away when I think of those times…

It’s Sunday, church day. If you can’t or choose not to go, numerous services are online … Check them out…

Forecast for today … Mostly sunny, with a high near 83 and windy … gusts as high as 24 mph. Partly cloudy tonight, with a low around 63. Monday’s forecast is for mostly sunny with a high near 86 and windy, gusts as high as 24 mph. (March winds)
