Thoughts While Shaving for May 19

The 41st edition of the White Lake Water Festival appeared to be a huge success. Despite temps in the low 90s under a blistering sun, the crowds were large and eager for a good time.

WECT folks did a great job of show-casing the area over the past few days.

Now, back to a normal routine and wishes for a successful summer season.

Bladen County Commissioners meet Monday, 6:30 p.m., regular meeting … busy time.

MacKenzie Gore had another impressive outing recently … pitching for Lake Elsinore in the Class A, California League. The Columbus County native faced 19 batter in his latest start for the San Diego farm team, issued one walk and fanned six, throwing 46 of 74 pitches for strikes and lowered his ERA to 1.07. Unfortunately, his team, lost 1-0 in 10 innings. The 20-year old has allowed five runs over 42 innings, holding opponents to a league-best .154 batting average. He is considered to be one of the top prospects in the organization and his arrival in the big leagues could be as early as next year, depending how well the 2019 season goes.
