I have been around for a while … never the smartest … but enjoy keeping in touch … not a patient listener…
Seems we, as a nation, tend to swing from left to right and right to left … somewhere in between must be the ‘sweet spot’. I listen to those in the know … either far left or right depending on the political persuasion of the speaker … Sounds good, at least to the one sharing…
What I have decided is, you can’t pay folks more to not work than to work … and it appears to me that is what is happening … right now.
To many jobs going unfilled, too many folks not working and they are needed in the workplace … So how much is too much and how much is too little … to be determined … but, I repeat … what we have now is not working.
I do not profess to have all the answers, but can recognize a problem from time to time when things get ‘out of whack’.
I ‘signed up’ one time in my life … working at Top Mode Mfg., years ago. Went to work on a Monday and was told I must take a week off (without pay, of course) but I could sign-up … Didn’t like the sound of it … but employer had more product than could be sold and some would be ‘laid off’ for a week … Can’t imagine that stretching to months and years…
Think I know what the problem is, but not sure, and when I listened to the experts, not sure they know … I’m not a ‘R’ or a ‘D’, I’m not either … don’t profess to know the answer, don’t get paid to solve the issue … but some of our smart folks in position of authority should know, they told us they knew when they ran for office … Time to put politics aside, both parties work on the issue and solve it … The sooner, the better. Sorry, move back please while I step down from the ‘stump”
