There is a slight chance of rain (20%) today after 2 p.m. with a high near 75. Tonight, patchy fog after 4 a.m., otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Saturday, sunny, with a high near 75 and windy, gusts as high as 17 mph. Looking further down the road, the chance of rain for Monday night is 40%, increasing to 70% Tuesday and Tuesday night, and 30% Wednesday…

East Bladen High School football team still in the 1A state playoffs … The Eagles play Rosewood tonight … The school is located near Goldsboro … East Bladen officials have tickets on sale for $8 each … In area 2A ranks … Whiteville and Clinton high school teams are still in the running for the 2A championships as well … (not playing each other, yet)

Tar Heel area residents are sponsoring a special event tomorrow (Saturday) in support of one of their own … Amy Grimes Melvin is scheduled to have a lung transplant soon and her friends and neighbors are raising $s to assist in providing funds for her to rent in an area near Raleigh-Durham for a while as she recuperates … It’s Saturday at the Tar Heel Fire Station on Tar Heel Ferry Road, BBQ plate lunches on sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Boston Butts will be on sale as well and a golf cart will be raffled off … The goal is to raise $20,000 … Donations will be accepted…
