Municipal elections are over, votes counted, winners will be sworn in soon. In the meantime, the Board of Elections prepares for another primary election…

Bladen County Commissioners are busy, among other issues is redistricting … It’s the law and occurs every 10 years … and they are also preparing for a revaluation … An event that few care for … but it’s the law … Occurs every 7 or 8 years … Those that feel it is unfair (those who have increases) and those who have less values (usually don’t hear from them).

Pass one of the many cotton fields in the county and give thanks … so happy no one has to pick it by hand … ’bout the worst job I ever had … Big machines pick it all…

A reminder … 2001 property taxes were due September 1, however late charges will be added around January 5th or 6th … and for big property owners, can be substantial…

My bride and I circled White Lake yesterday … so peaceful … no wind and not a ripple across the lake … A great day for a snooze in a hammock … but change is on the way … Forecast for today … Partly sunny, with a high near 57 and wind gusts as high as 16 mph. Mostly cloudy tonight with a low around 43. Thursday, a 30% chance of rain, mainly after 2 p.m. and a high temp around 63 degrees…
