Remember Jail-A-Thon? … Popular fundraiser for education in Bladen County several years ago … It was sidelined for a few years due to COVID-19 … It’s back, or will be … Tuesday, November 14 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Individuals agree to be arrested, tried and a fine is determined … Each person fined, is held (sort-of) ’til they raise X number of dollars … and all proceeds go to fund educational efforts in the county … You decide the time of your arrest, and you can pay the fine or call friends and ask for assistance … Hope you can help … Call 910-862-1488 for more info … Officers of the organization include Dia Collins-Thomas, Peggy Hester, Tina Dowless and David G. We complain about everything, government is the topic of much of the conversation and often rightfully so … then come election time … less than 20% of those eligible care enough to vote … and most of the time, barely enough candidates to fill the slots, very few have opposition … So we just keep on complaining, moaning and groaning, expecting something good to happen … SAD.
