Thoughts While ShavingWednesday was another hot, hot day… The high temp was 96 degrees, which occurred between 3:30 & 4:30 p.m., but hot all day long… Not much breeze… Just hot. Likely to continue today…

Sunny, today… with a high near 95 and heat index values as high as 101.

Partly cloudy tonight, with a low around 72… Friday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. 40% chance of rain…

Highs Saturday & Sunday, in the mid-80s.

Trouble brewing… Topical storm Lee is far off our coastline but could be headed our way… More later.

Jayvee football is on the calendar for this evening, along with numerous other sporting events… John Clark has it covered… Check our Bladen County Master Sports Schedule…

Varsity football tops our Friday night activities…
James Kenan at East Bladen, 7 p.m.
West Bladen at East Columbus, 7 p.m.

Don’t know about you, but I check Obits in the area daily… All on BladenOnline.com.

Don’t have to visit many local businesses to hear about a lack of folks interested in working… Heard it again yesterday…

Many good restaurants in Bladen County… and others within a 25-mile radius, just about any direction…

I enjoy tales of yesteryear… So much changed over the past 50 – 60 years…

Is anyone old enough to remember a hand crank for a Model T and others? I never had a desire to attempt… Heard old-timers stalking about kick-backs…

I’ve shared the story, but it’s worth repeating… An older neighbor worked for years at Bldenboro Cotton Mills and walked 2, 3, 4 miles or more to and from his job, Monday through Friday. Finally, purchased a T-model… Told neighbors he had to get up an hour earlier; not sure if he would be walking or riding, depending on whether his new ride would start or not… obviously, it’s a used vehicle…

Stay cool today, if possible…
