WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, U.S. Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced The Veterans Priority Enrollment Act of 2017, bipartisan legislation to ensure that veterans, servicemembers, and surviving spouses and children of servicemembers who have died in the line of duty can take full advantage of their education benefits.
“The Veterans Priority Enrollment Act will allow veterans, servicememembers, and their families to receive the education benefits that they deserve,” said Senator Tillis. “Expanding educational benefits for veterans has been a priority of mine since being elected, and I want to thank Senator Brown for his partnership in focusing on this important issue.”
The Veterans Priority Enrollment Act of 2017 would extend priority enrollment for college courses to veterans, servicemembers, and eligible dependents who are utilizing GI education benefits. Expanding priority enrollment would allow servicemembers and veterans to plan their semesters so that they can finish their degrees before their benefits expire.
