Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement on President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of retired Marine General James Mattis for Secretary of Defense:
“General Mattis is an outstanding choice for Secretary of Defense. Few living military leaders are as widely regarded and highly respected as General Mattis, and few have such a deep understanding of the global threats facing America and our national interests. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I look forward to working with him and the incoming administration to rebuild and modernize our military and support North Carolina’s strategically vital military installations, including Fort Bragg, Camp Lejeune, and Cherry Point.”
