During Monday evenings regular session of the Elizabethtown Town Council meeting, Howell Clark was sworn in as a new Council member.  Clark has previously served on the Planning and Zoning Board for the Town.  Sylvia Campbell was administered the Oath of Office as Mayor along with Dicky Glenn and Ricky Leinwand as newly elected Council members.  Rufus Lloyd was appointed Mayor Pro Tempore.  The Oaths of Office were administered by Niki Dennis, Bladen County Clerk of Court.

During the noon work session, Council recognized outgoing Council member Darrell Page who served on the council for two years.  The FY 2014-15 Financial Audit was also presented and approved.

In administrative matters, Council approved a resolution for surplus property by the Fire Department to be sold; did not approved the Pyner and Spruill proposal for Mike McIntyre to serve as a consultant for grant funding; approved annual Certification of Firefighters, tabled a proposal from Evan’s Computer Solutions to install WiFi at Cape Fear Farmers Market; tabled the request for two street lights on Rollins Street; approved change order for downtown sewer collections project; approved tax releases and monthly financial report; and re-appointed Wayne Edge and Jack Cross to the Local Firemen’s Relief Fund Board of Trustees.

Eddie Madden, Town Manager announced the Town received a $200,000 grant from the Department of Transportation for the Airport Taxiway Project.  This grant will in turn free up funds to be utilized on the renovation of the Terminal.

The Town offices will be closed December 23-25th and January 1st for the holidays.
