The North Carolina Department of Transportation has issued an updated list of road openings and closings for Bladen County, per Kenneth Clark.

OPENINGS:

Cabbage Road

Cabbage Road is open. While we had initially planned to close Cabbage Road again Monday in order to complete the remaining crosslines, all closure plans are on hold until Tuesday at the earliest (storm damage dependent).

CLOSINGS:

Coley Road

Coley Road is closed in order to replace the bridge over Hammonds Creek. The bridge replacement project will take until late November / early December.  A signed detour will be in effect to use Airport Road to White Plains Church Road to Vause Road) to Rosindale Road.

UPCOMING CLOSINGS:

US 701 Bypass in Clarkton

The closure of US 701 Bypass at the railroad tracks in Clarkton that was tentatively scheduled for September 11, 2017, will be postponed until after Irma passage. If we don’t get much damage, then the work will begin on 9/12; otherwise, if the work does not begin on September 12 it will be postponed until September 18. The railroad plans to install an upgraded crossing at the location. Once work begins, it will take most of the week to complete but should open by the weekend. Again this date is tentative and subject to change by the railroad and/or because of weather.

ELWELL FERRY:

The Elwell Ferry is operating.  We do not plan to unhook the ferry from its cable for the upcoming weather event at this time; however, operation will likely be suspended on Monday due to forecast strong winds.
