RALEIGH, NC- September 20, 2023 – North Carolina’s rural tourism initiative, UPLIFT, is delighted to announce the launch of a new podcast, Interactions + Attractions, hosted by Dr. Carol Kline, a Tourism Professor at Appalachian State University and a member of the leadership team at UPLIFT. The first episode will air on September 25th at 10 AM EST to align with World Tourism Day on September 27th.

Interactions + Attractions is an innovative podcast series that takes listeners on a journey into the heart of placemaking within North Carolina. Each week, guests are invited to share their insights into tourism, announce upcoming events, and discuss ways to support rural
communities. This podcast will showcase the best of the state and all the work that goes into creating the attractions and locations that locals and visitors love. Tourism doesn’t just “Happen” – get the inside scoop on how people pull together to shape the future of their town.

The podcast will be released twice a week, every Monday and Friday. Most episodes will be released at 10 AM EST, with “happy hour episodes” released at 5 PM on some Fridays.

Simon Jones, UPLIFT program lead, said, “The podcast is a great way for UPLIFT to provide deeper insights into the processes and people strengthening rural tourism in North Carolina.”

Upcoming guests include Chris Cavanaugh with Magellan Strategy Group, Kofi Boone, a Distinguished Professor of Landscape Architecture and Design at NC State, and Russ Haddad from the NC Craft Brewers Guild. These industry experts will share valuable insights and experiences that will enrich our understanding of rural tourism.

Interactions + Attractions is aimed at a wide range of listeners, including industry practitioners, students, community leaders, travelers, locals, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in learning more about tourism.

The podcast will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and iHeartRadio.
