Motorists reported seeing a high-speed chase through Elizabethtown in the evening of Friday, December 17, 2021. According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, a suspect was arrested.
The Sheriff’s Office reported they were aware of a 2004 GMC Yukon stolen in Lumberton, and the vehicle was seen in the Dublin area. A Bladen County Sheriff’s Deputy observed the stolen vehicle on Highway 87 near the intersection of West Broad Street and attempted to stop the Yukon driver.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle fled, traveling into Elizabethtown at a high rate of speed, proceeding north on Highway 701, and turned left onto Highway 53, heading toward White Oak.
The suspect turned into a residence off of Highway 53, where it is reported, he attempted to run on foot but was apprehended by deputies.
Dustin Car, a 25-year-old male of Garland, NC, was arrested and charged
with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Firearms by a Convicted Felon, and Fleeing to Elude Arrest. Carr was placed in the Bladen County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.
