The annual Veterans Day Celebration in Elizabethtown has been cancelled this year due to ongoing issues from Hurricane Florence.

Retired Col. Roy Allen, a member of the Veterans Day Committee, said the reason for the cancellation is the fact the National Guard Armory located on Swanzy Street in Elizabethtown was damaged during the storm.

“Hopefully, by next year, they will have it repaired,” said Allen.

He said the Veterans Day Committee searched for another location, but could not find one large enough for the number of expected attendees. Plans are under way for next year’s event.
