Spread the love

Did you know that over 100,000 people nationwide are waiting on organ donations? Did you know that 3,200 people in North Carolina are waiting for transplants?

I am Gaye Davis, teacher, coach, advisor, and a registered organ donor. Most of you have heard about organ donations, donors, and recipients, but have you been personally affected?

As a high school Health and PE teacher, I had the opportunity to meet Tiffianna Elmore, Program Manager of Teen and DMV Outreach,Donate Life. When I heard the low percentage of registered organ donors in Bladen County, I knew something had to be done. Immediately, I became a huge advocate for Organ Donations.

I, along with my Peer -Group Connection mentors, would love to bring more awareness to the need of organ donors, but more than that to recognize our Bladen County families who have been affected personally in any way: live organ donor, donor recipient, or had to make the decision to donate their loved one’s organs.. We would love to ask you some questions and get any feedback from you. Also, we would love to run these stories of love and giving online as well as in the paper. April is National Organ Donation Month. We would like to do a type of documentary where we could interview you virtually. If you are interested in participating, please email me at ggdavis@bladen.k12.nc.us. Once you have contacted me, we will discuss the interview then.

I thank you so much for the ultimate sacrifice some of you have given.
