A woman plead guilty Monday in Bladen County Superior Court to misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon as a result of a domestic issue at work that saw the father of her two children cut with a knife.

Audrey Tyler received a 150 day suspended sentence, 24 months supervised probation and ordered to pay $15,525 to Cape Fear Orthopedics in Fayetteville under an agreement with the state.

According to a court summary, on Jan. 23, 2015, Tyler and the father of her two children, Justin Lilly, got into an argument while at work at Smithfield Foods in Tar Heel. The argument escalated. Tyler grabbed a knife and severely cut one of Lilly’s fingers.

Tyler and Lilly lost their jobs at the plant because of the incident. Lilly had $15,525 in medical expenses due to the injury, but was unable to pay because he no longer had insurance after losing his job.
