Elizabethtown Police Department is stocked with supplies for folks in need in Bladen and Robeson Counties thanks to local citizens and the law enforcement’s wives. According to Brooke McMichael and Amber Avant, two of the ladies instrumental in the outreach project, an announcement on Facebook and within five minutes the department started receiving donations.
The items are being donated by citizens to help citizens displaced by the flooding in Kelly and in Lumberton. Avant said currently there is a huge need for baby diapers at Kelly’s shelter.
Kelly received a lot of flooding last night and people have lost their homes!
The two ladies said, “Thank you to all helping with their efforts. If they can’t use it here (in Bladen County) we will distribute to Lumberton.”
Anyone wanting to make any further donations: Drop sites will be at the wear-house located behind Kinlaw’s Furniture. Bladen Crisis will also be taking non-perishable items and toiletries at the Bladen County gym in Elizabethtown on Thursday 8:30 am – 5 pm.
